Who is God?
The Creator, Redeemer, and Comforter of the Universe
God the Father
God the Father is the 1st Person in the Holy Trinity and the Creator of the Universe. The Father's presence is in all of the Universe and the Father has authority over all things.
God the Son, Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ, the Son, is the 2nd Person of the Holy Trinity. He was sent to earth by the Father and born as a being who is both fully human and fully God in the person of Jesus of Nazareth. He preached God's love for the whole world and was killed by the political and religious authorities with whom he disagreed. After being dead for three days, God the Father raised Him from the dead. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son, reconciled humanity with God.
God the Holy Spirit
God the Holy Spirit is the 3rd Person of the Holy Trinity and is God's continued presence in the Universe and on Earth. Sent by the Father and the Son, the Spirit moves in the hearts of human beings to inspire Faith in God, a love for God and for others, and lives in the hearts of God's faithful people.
What is the Holy Trinity?
The most complicated idea and mystery of Christianity, the Holy Trinity describes the relationship between God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, who are all three separate persons, yet together one, and only one, God.
What the Holy Trinity is NOT
Because the Holy Trinity is impossible to fully understand, there have been many ways in which it has been described. All fail to fully and truly account for the divine mystery of God's triune (or three-personed) nature.
The Apostle's Creed
A core statement of faith in the Christian church, the Apostle's Creed states in simple terms the tenants of what all Christians believe about God.
